What is the maximum length of an extension lead?
We recommend that no extension lead be more than 15 metres long. Only use extension leads fitted with suitably insulated connectors and plugs. (Never join two lengths of flexible cable by twisting the bare ends of wires together.) Position an extension lead carefully to prevent any risk of damage.
Can extension leads be left on?
Extension cords are for TEMPORARY use, not to be left lying around. If you leave one lying around, it will get stepped on, tucked under a rug, and if you forget about it after a year or two it will be frayed and possible short out and start a fire.
Can you run two extension leads off one socket?
Yes it is. You should never ‘daisy-chain’ extension leads together. If you use more than one extension lead per socket it will significantly raise the risk of overloading the socket.
