When can I remove Tatu-derm?

Remove Tatu-Derm 12-24 hours after tattoo application. If after a minimum of 12 hours the Tatu-Derm is filled with fluid, it is time to remove it and clean the tattoo. If it is not filled with fluid you may leave it on for the full 24 hours.

How do you remove the Derm Shield?

As a friend reminder, you must peel the white plastic sections off first then apply it adhesive side down with the plus signs facing upwards. If needed, have a friend help. Leave the second piece of bandage on for 4 to 5 days. After that time, gently and slowly peel off the Derm Shield.

Can you shower with Tatu-derm?

You can shower with the Tatu-derm, but avoid submerging it in water. No Baths or swimming. Keep your tattoo out of the sun. To remove Tatu-derm, peel it back SLOWLY from the edge or corner.

What happens if you keep your tattoo wrapped too long?

As mentioned above, it can cause infection by keeping the area too moist, and keeping your wrapping on for too long compromises the healing process. Without the proper exposure to oxygen, your freshly tattooed skin takes longer to heal. This elongated healing period can actually put you at a higher risk of infection.

What happens if you take the wrap off your tattoo too early?

After the wrap has been on for a few hours, you will start to see blood and plasma underneath. Once this happens, it’s time to remove the wrap, as this can block your skin pores from breathing. This can ruin your new tattoo before the first day is over.

After 3-4 days, remove the Saniderm bandage gently under warm running water. To take the bandage off you must stretch from each side rather than peel it off like a Bandaid. When you stretch the bandage it allows the adhesive to come off the skin without disrupting the tattoo and taking any ink with it.

What is ink sack tattoo?

‘Ink sacs’ are a normal part of the healing process, and occur when specialist plastic is covering the tattoo, called Saniderm. This is done to prevent the tattoo from scabbing, and “seals in the plasma and keeps it in its liquid form”, while still letting the tattoo breathe.
