What are lowering kits?
As the name suggests, they are meant to lower your vehicle from its original height. Your vehicle’s suspension might already have springs pre-installed in it. However, lowering springs will be a few inches less taller than the stock springs. Hence, when you install them on your shocks your car lowers.
What does an axle flip kit do?
A flip kit (like the Belltech system shown) is a series of steel plates, saddles, U-bolts, bumpstops, brackets, and hardware that, once installed, relocates (raises) a truck’s rear axle to a new position above the leaf springs.
How many inches does a flip kit drop?
A flip kit is designed to move the rear axle of your truck from being underneath the leaf spring pack to being on top of the leaf spring pack. This will generally give about six inches of lowering to the back of your truck.

Can you adjust the alignment on a beam suspension?
Since there is basically no alignment adjustment to be made with a beam suspension, it is especially important to maintain suspension component accuracy, which is why DJM Suspension puts so much effort into every Dream Beam it produces. Is there a flip kit for the rear suspension?
Now it’s time to do the rear suspension. DJM has supplied us with a “flip kit” for the rear axle that should bring us down 6″ in the back. Matt and Steve wrap up the DJM Suspension install and put the shop truck project back on track. There will be snow. There will be fire and flying metal.
